Last week I was walking in Crows Nest with my daughter when we were stopped by a woman who looked me straight in the eye and proceeded to tell me that she could feel me being weighed down by the energy of others, that it was taking an emotional toll and that I needed to protect myself and my own energy.
You might chalk these few minutes up to a little bit of crazy in the air, and maybe I would have too if it weren’t for the fact that I’d been experiencing a whole heap of very similar “messages” in many ways.
I’m a science girl. I love the brain. I love learning about how it works, working with our physical brain and minds to get great outcomes. When we work together, nearly all the work we do is grounded in neuroscience.
But I’m also a spiritual (although not religious) girl, and my spiritual practices are integral to my overall wellbeing. My spiritual side also aligns me with my sense of self. When I haven’t nurtured my spiritual side for a while, I often start to feel as though something is lacking or that I feel somehow incomplete.
The two paths must cross
Einstein famously said that “science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.” I'm not religious, but I tend to agree with the meaning behind this statement.
In our pursuit of overall wellbeing, we often encounter the scientific and the spiritual as two distinct paths. While these paths may seem divergent, they both play crucial roles in enhancing our mental and emotional health.

- Listening to music that hits your soul (It came come from any genre. For me, something loud and high energy like “Butterflies and Hurricanes” is soul music)
