Self-sabotage is rarely self-hatred.

More often, it is a protective pattern shaped by past experiences, trying to keep you safe from disappointment, rejection or change.

Patterns, Habits & Self-Sabotage

Many of the patterns we struggle with are not simply about willpower. Often, they are protective responses shaped by the nervous system, subconscious beliefs, past experiences and the ways we have learnt to cope, adapt or stay safe over time.

You may find yourself repeating behavioural or emotional patterns that no longer serve you, yet still feel difficult to change.

You may be navigating patterns such as:

emotional eating or weight struggles

smoking, drug or substance use

self-sabotage or procrastination

people-pleasing and perfectionism

negative self-talk or low self-worth

overworking or difficulty slowing down

relationship or attachment patterns

Gambling and other compulsive habits

These patterns are often not random, and they are rarely simply about motivation or discipline. Many are deeply connected to nervous system responses, emotional survival strategies and subconscious patterns developed over time.

For some, these behaviours may be linked to chronic stress, unresolved emotional experiences, shame, burnout or long-standing struggles with confidence and self-worth.

Together, we work beneath the surface of the pattern itself, exploring what your system may be trying to protect, avoid or hold onto. Through a combination of hypnotherapy, somatic experiencing and nervous-system-informed approaches, we gently work with the subconscious mind and body, creating space for deeper awareness, emotional regulation, self-compassion and sustainable change over time.

This work is not about shaming or “fixing” parts of you. It is about understanding them, so change can happen from a place of safety rather than force.
